Decorate Mailbox for 4th of July

The 4th of July is a great time to show patriotism in new ways even if you use patriotic pieces in your everyday design.  One way to do that is by decorating places that are often forgotten, such as the humble and unassuming mailbox. Really, what can be better than a small blank slate to brighten the neighborhood? It’s just big enough to offer tons of patriotic charm.

You do not have to be an artist or have a lot of expensive supplies to transform a mailbox into something worthy of celebrating independence.  All you need is your creative flair, a few supplies, and a few great ideas.

Vinyl Clings

If you own a vinyl cutting machine, try cutting patriotic symbols or sayings in red, white, and blue and then adhere them to the mailbox.  Be sure to wash and dry your mailbox thoroughly before placement or the vinyl stickers will not stay in place properly.

Ribbons

Using ribbons and bows is another colorful and inexpensive way to decorate your mailbox for the 4th of July. Find an assortment of patriotic colors and patterns and then tie them in bows, loops, or swirls. Once tied, affix the ribbons in place with fishing line or thin wire. If the line or wire is visible, use bits of ribbon to conceal it. Be sure the decoration does not obscure the opening or make it difficult to open or close.

Stickers

For a fast patriotic project, try sprucing up your mailbox with patriotic stickers. Stickers come in so many styles, colors and options that you are sure to find a set that suits your needs.  The best part is, while not permanent, they are longer lasting so you can enjoy your efforts longer.

Mailbox Wraps

If you are short on time, try a mailbox wrap. A wrap is a decorative plastic or vinyl cover that slips over the mailbox simply and quickly. Since it is made for the mailbox, there is never a worry about obscuring an opening.

Showing your respect for your nation and all those who have fought so hard for freedom is important. It may seem like a small act to decorate your mailbox on the 4th of July, but it is one with huge impact.
